I have a couple of questions.

Can for example a hoague 870 rear stock be used on an 11-87? mods. possible?

I have not seen many options available for stock upgrades on 11-87's

any help appreciated, thanks for your time

Yes you can use a large standard screwdriver. There is also a special socket made to fit.

A lot of aftermarket butt stocks for the 870 will fit the 1187-1100 guns. You just have to make sure that the hole in the stock for the action spring tube is big enough and the area is the right height.

If you want to make a special socket for it, get one that will fit around the outside of the nut, drill 2 holes opposite of each other on the top portion of the socket and put a hardened pin through it, the idea is for it to act like a wide slotted screwdriver. File the ends flush with the socket walls, use your 3/8 socket wrench and now you have a tool that will give you more power to unscrew that pesky nut.

thanks guys,

this is what I figured, but I've found that it is best to double check when something seems to require an unusual amount of force to manipulate.

If I remember correctly, a standard deep socket will work. I was just thinking about the last one I did and I don't remember a slotted screwdriver (or socket like I indicated above) being used. They say the mind is the first thing to go...
