hello,

I took the trigger assembly out of my 11-87 for cleaning after goose hunting. I was checking zero for deer season, and about 65% of the time it would not cycle. What I know:

it is not the barrel gas port, gas system, or ammunition(brand or size), this changed when I reinstalled trigger group. I took it apart again and re-assembled and had the same issue.

the action is holding open after firing most of the time, it cycles the first round in manually without catching but will catch manually if their are rounds in mag tube. this makes me think feed latch/pawls but I'm not entirely convinced.

Anyone have experience with detail stripping/re-assembly or a relative problem, I'm relatively new to 1187's?

thanks

ok where here now. it sound like your breech bolt is hanging up and not coming back far enough. this may very well be your action spring. to access it you must remove the stock. the retaining pin comes out the the spring , then the spring plug. however it sounds to me like somrthing is displaced under the trigger group.at the same time if it works "sometimes" then it sounds like crud on the action spring or in the tube and it acted up coincidentaly when you removed the trigger group. be sure the fork under the trigger group , has both ends in the action spring cap. there' only so many things that will keep an 11-87 or 1100 from cycling and if it isn't the gas system, ahead of the trigger group, it's the spring system behind the trigger group.

did you re-install the rubber gas seal at the end of the mag. tube. that little thing can cause alot of problems.

try stripping it down again, there may be a small piece of rag or something else stuck in there.

thanks for the help trouble shooting,

Been working and hunting so I still havent got her running yet, I checked the spring and gas system just to make sure, and they are not the issue. It is definately relevant to the trigger mech. or feed latches.

That link to stevespages mentions some alignments with the disconnectors and a few specific engagements so I'll check them when I get home. That link is awsome by the way.

thanks again guys. (I'll have a better understanding of this shotgun once it is sorted out)
