I have an older Rem. 1100..fixed choke (modified) 28" 2 3/4 chamber VR. This is a non-magnum gun...when lead was ok to use it was all I needed..and it shot great with 6's and 4's ... I liked the feel and it swung beautifully!. Life was good.... life was simple!
Cleaning was a little time consuming but not onerous.
I have used Bismuth in this gun but not too happy with the results (fair to poor at best for me and this gun)
I would like to try the tungsten heavy stuff BUT it appears I should be stepping up to a steel shot "approved" barrel.
Do I:
a) get the vent rib steel shot Remington factory tube with the Rem Chokes for the 1100?
b) get a Hastings Barrel (eg the "Hastings II" with the fancy "straight rifling") for the 1100?
c) do I bite the bullet and get an Extrema II or Benelli M2 (probably more suitably to me than the SBEII and cheaper)?
d) do I get a Stoeger 2000?
e) and what about this new 105CTI Remingto auto...??
..confused and poor...
Thanks
(I already have a pair of Remington pumps in 12 and 20...but I REALLY like this auto for waterfowl...)
