1100 assembly question

I am having trouble assembling gun after cleaning, all goes well until I try to put the trigger group in, what happens is the shell stop bar falls out of mine and when I try to position it and insert the trigger group it sticks out a little and interferes with the insertion of the trigger group. one video I watched mentions that the shell stop is staked in and does not fall out. When you slide the bolt into the receiver you push in a little to allow the bolt to slide in the receiver, I assume the end of the shell stop bar toward the trigger group fits in tight to the side of the receiver.
I have managed twice to get it back together but there is a lot of swearing and blood (there are some real sharp parts in there)
I guess my question is first on your Rem 1100 does the shell stop remain attached to the receiver and if not is there some trick to getting that shell stop bar to stay in place to allow the trigger group to slide in and be positioned correctly to push the smaller pin through it as well as the trigger group it self.
Any help would be appreciated
 
Thanks everyone I know what needs to be done now, I, did not mention the main reason I had it apart was I had a failure to fire situation where it seemed that when pulling the trigger it did not release the hammer,so I took it apart to see if I could see anything wrong like maybe a firing pin or ??,I could not see anything obvious
and after putting it back together everything seems fine, so maybe just some crud in the trigger ??
 
When it doesn't fire do you get slack in the trigger (like you can pull it almost all the way, but it just feels like mush) or is it hard and locked out like when you have the safety on? If it feels like the latter it probably isn't fully locking into battery and not allowing the trigger to release. If it is just mushy then it is likely not resetting. If you haven't done it before I would take the stock off and clean up the action spring and follower, as I've seen this cause FTF's by being to gummed up to fully ram the bolt home.

I feels like the safety is on, and thanks I will pull the stock off and maybe it works now because I have while taking it apart alot and have pushed the the action spring in a few times it loosend it up.

I can put the 1100 and the 870 together , but you need some good dexterity to do it!
Much easier to buy the staking tool if you are working on them all the time.
