1100 end cap

I want to swap the cap on my 1100 for the one off my 870 which has a swivel

When i took the cap of the 1100 i found a plastic disc inside of it. Is this to seal the mag tube? Does the magazine have to be air tight for the gun to cycle rounds? Or am i just thinking too hard.

I think that you will find that the plastic washer was there to eliminate any possibility that you might get a gas leak out of the front of the mag tube. You will notice the vents cut in the top of the forend wood to direct the gases up. I expect that you will have no trouble with the 870 cap.
