Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone here has bought the new barrel that allows you to shoot a 3" steel shot and have the full choke system?

Did it go smooth and how does the firearm function afterward? I am thinking of doing this upgrade but would like some feed back form people who have done it already, Thanks very much.

I did CTS. Well, it wasn't exactly a new barrel, but as good as new used barrel off the EE and my receiver was already a magnum. A 30" Remchoke steel barrel for a 70's vintage 1100. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. My old 1100 will now cycle 2 3/4" trap loads as well as 3" heavy field without a single hiccup. If you are using a non-mag receiver I would recommend purchasing a magnum action sleeve from Numrich. They don't cost much and you would have a true magnum.

Good to hear, they sell them at WSS for 250 so that's not to bad. Mine is also a older 1100 model, but work just awesome. My gun is a non-magnum I think, how do you know? If not then i will look into that magnum action sleeve, I will have to do some research because I am unaware of what it is. Good to hear that it works well.

Top in pic is a non-mag, and bottom is a mag;)

IF you only intend to shoot 3" steel loads you do not need to make any further alterations than the barrel.IF you intend to shoot all 3" loads ie: lead and steel than the magnum action sleeve and a new action spring would save your non magnum receiver from a beating. I have shot a basic non magnum 1100 with the new barrel and 3" loads (steel) for 3 years now with no wear or issues.

regards, Darryl
