I was just shopping online and notice a new 110gr vmax and gmx. Got me wondering if theyd fly straight from a 1-10 twist 300wm? My lee manual says 3660fps. Should be pretty flat to 300yards and splatter factor should be fun on reactive targets at 100

Can't comment on the 300WM but I have had good results with the 10gr VMAX in a 308win. The effect on coyotes was impressive to say the least. I was getting just shy of 3300 fps IIRC with a 26" 308win.

I shoot 110 g v max in my 308 , 300 savage , 30/06 , even in my 30/30 bolt action savage 340 fun to shoot , good to shoot in 300wm but go whit minimum charge bullet will more stable at 300-400 yards have fun

I realize after 300 yards it would be like shooting a 17 rimfire in the wind and drop faster than my buddies gf on a donut but anything hit in that first couple hundred should provide some entertainment. I live in a caliber restricted area so i wouldnt be hunting with these loads. 180gr sst or 180gr woodliegh ppsn is what i use for hunting. This load would be just for blasting things like tannerite and melons and pumkins and such
Though if the gmx held together should act like a 257 on deer. Wby loads an interlock and i believe ive seen the 90gr gmx

I can second this. I started using the 110vmax after I bought a box of Noveske 110gr 7.62x51. Absolutely levels coyotes. I didn’t chase velocity too much, just picked the most accurate test load. Recoil our of my 16” PAR is considerably lighter. With the brake on it’s like shooting a 22, a loud, fireball throwing, smoky 22. Very hard on the pelt, but effective. They are also quite cheap. Out of a 300 I’m sure they are even more impressive.

80 grs of powder for a 110gr bullet i can imagine it wouldnt be gentle but they make barrels everyday and i dont really like mine anyway
I cant seem to find any gmx 110gr bullets in stock anywhere. I found some 110gr vmax at cabelas. I think speer or sierra had a 110gr as well

The only concern I would have other than barrel life would be if the projectile would hold together at the RPM it's going to be spinning at those velocities from a 10 twist. I would probably email Hornady and ask them about how many RPM that projectile can take. I've had light weight thin jacket varmint bullets come apart after leaving the muzzle in 223's when shot from 7 twist barrels.

Good luck, should be a good show when you shoot those pumpkins and mellons.

I have the better part of a box. Shoot me a pm

So i got around trying out these 110 gmx bullets in todays heat. I kept the ammo inside untill i got aroubd to shooting. Shot at 40 yards into sand backstop
I had h4895 on hand so i used lee 2nd manual. 60 to 67 gr just to run over the chrono.
60 grs yeilded 3360fps. 61=3332. 62=3403. 63=3554. 64=3556. 65=3531. 65=3588. 66=3591. 67=3688
Two rounds were loaded at 65 grs. Surprising results going up and down. Maybe my scale is off. However 63 thru 66grs printed thru the same hole at 40 yards. Once velocity hit around that 3500 fps mark the bullets started coming apart in sand. 40 yard impact. Ill test my scale and reload a few and try shooting water jugs and deer shoulders up close and at 100 yards. However the group looked good. 8 shots could be covered with a looney all pretty much figure 8 style

Once the crops come off i maybe able to try a shot far enough to get down to 2400fps to see how they expand at that velocity. I just loaded up a bunch more at 64 and 67grs. Next range trip ill shoot them thru a deer shoulder into water jugs both at close range and at 100yards
