On a recent trip to the woods to cut some firewood, I was gasing up my saw, when a helluva racket started about 80 yds from me. Barking, yipping and howling. I pulled my Sako .30-06 from the scabbard on my bike, loaded it and called a few times on my rabbit call.
I then see 6 coyotes running through the brush. I fired on the first 2 through the brush, but did not touch them, as there was lots of small trees and brush to pick a hole through. They went further into the bush, but not too far, as I could still hear them barking and yipping.
I called a few more times on the rabbit call, and about 5 minutes later, one comes back to me and I took him from head on. The bullet entered the front shoulder and blew out the top of his back. The exit hole is about 6 or 7 inches wide, as I was using 110gr Vmax at 3500 fps and he was only about 50 yds...
