Probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyway since I am not sure. :D When I use my 9mm instead of my .45 for IDPA I have always used 115gr FMJ ammo. I picked up some 147gr FMJ today. What difference if any can I expect? TIA

If you load them to the same power factor you may not be able to feel much difference. The heavier bullet may feel like you are getting more of a push then a snap but that is a very subjective observation. Personally I stick to 124/125 gr bullets in my 9MM. I believe on balance the 124/125 gr bullet is slightly more accurate than the other two, though at the ranges we shoot IDPA it likely doens't make much difference in real terms.

What is important is how they feed in your gun.

ps I have shot all three weights and really couldn't tell the difference in how the my pistol recoiled. Others with more sensitive hands might be able to tell.

All things being equal, I prefer the shove of the 147g to the snap of the 115g. Your mileage will vary.

You may find a difference in point of impact.

When I've bought factory I'll always go for 147's. For reloading I've found it hard to get 147gr jacketed bullets so I load 124's. The p226 loves it all...
