She-who-must-be-obeyed is away for the weekend and i took the time alone to set up and do some load development off the back deck of the house. I have my 6BR's running very well, and I had a box of 115's staring at me on the loading bench.

I could not resist the temptation to try these once again, and I was shocked!!

29.5 of Varget ( a pure SWAG for a starting point...) and a 115 seated 15 thou into the lands yields 2800 fps and they freakin' BUG holed!!

I ran the numbers, and their better BC means they will theoretically buck wind better than a 105 doing 2900. I had to try the experiment three more times and each time the results were freaky good.

For those wondering what the big deal is, the 115's should need a 7" twist, and the BR is regarded as too anemic for a 115. Well, I guess we'll see!

I will be trying them at the 300yd ISSF match in Mission tomorrow

Hey.......I need someone to harass while I sit in my Garage for the last 6hrs prepping brass, loading for Winnipeg and cruising CGN on my phone. :D

30 more 6BR rounds then it's on to 6.5-08 HABU rounds.

Update:

They sucked.

The 6CX is a substantially bigger case than the BR, so I HOPE he can get that fast :) My XC pushes 115's at 3050 - and would have done so today, had I not phucked the XC neck sizing/bumping die.

However, the BR experiment needs more work. I shot the worst match of my life today thanks in part to the 115's, but I took one for the team... I had to try it.

So you shot what 9Vs and not 10V as per usual. ;) or where they all over the grid.

When I first saw this thread I thought " crap, that is a LOT of bullet for that little case"!!:confused:

Actually, not really! It fits the neck with room to spare, and it did achieve 2800 with varget. i am going to try other powders to see if we can squeak a bit more out of it. Remember, this same case can push heavier 30 cal bullets MUCH faster than that.

I was a hard-core skeptic too. I want to play with this much more before dismissing it altogether. i will try RL17 next (and if it works this will be the FIRST cartidge in which I have had any succes using that powder) and some slower powders.
 
I have one built on a Tikka M55 and a second in a "switch barrel" Remington XR100. I busted the resizing dies and never replaced it, so it has sat neglected for a while. I ordetred another die and intend to get up and running again - especially now that Lapua 22-250 brass is available.
