1187 Premier load cycling

My 1187 Special Purpose 3" is designed for heavier loads. It does not cycle low brass well, or at all, but heavier loads are excellent.

My 1187 Premier 3" cycles low brass lighter loads fine. Is there any risk of damage, if no modification, running heavy loads e.g. slugs?

My 1187sp came from the factory with 2 collars of different thickness. One for light and one for heavy loads. If set up for light loads the gun can be damaged over time by beating itself too hard while cycling heavy loads.

You would be best served by actually calling Remington directly 1-866-622-4869, they should be better able to answer your question.

There may be something called a 'gas cylinder activator' or the like, on your model. You put it in/out depending on light or magnum loads.

IIRC, my Premier had a nylon ring that went on one way for light loads and the opposite way for heavy loads.
