I’m wondering what everyone else has for scope mounts on there baikal guns. I have a 12/30-06 combo gun the baikals have a 11mm dovetail I believe. Sun optics has a mount made for this gun that brings it to weaver but I can’t find it anywhere in Canada

Your best bet is to get the mount from Europe via Ebay, steel mount with appropriate eye relief is not cheap, about $150. I have one of those on IZH-18 308Win, great fit and finish.

I put a weaver t010 on a couple of mine. With this it is possible to still use the open sights. Another I used a quick release rings made for a 22 rim fire. Can’t think of name right now

I use a BKL rail that works well, I got it from D&L Airgun a few years back. They also make cantilevered one piece rings that would work.

I used an 11mm 1pc mount made by Gamo which was originally designed for an air rifle on a 45-70 Baikal double rifle in the past and it held up easily to the recoil without any issues.

Bkl seems to be the answer for my set-up, I ordered the Bushnell 1-8x forge deal from a site sponsor. It has a 34mm tube so I gotta get the bkl dovetail to weaver rail than get 34mm weaver style rings. Otherwise I’d go directly from dovetail to rings if it was a regular 1” or 30mm tube scope. I’m gonna for with the full length 4” bkl dovetail/weaver rail for more clamping power on the whole dovetail and either cut it to fit or remove some of the dovetail portion from the rail so I’ll have the full 4” of weaver rail to use (dovetail section on the gun is 2 3/4”)

Sorry I don’t know how to post pictures lol.. but the 4” is like the picture posted by can-down above but instead of having half of the length dovetail this bkl model has the full length dovetail, which means I’ll have to modify it by either cut the whole length to 2 3/4”, or shave of the dovetail section and still have full use of the rail. Just because the gun’s dovetail is only 2 3/4”

Do "CZ" rings and 3/8th dovetail rings clamp right on these?

I just got a baikal with a weaver rail scope mount but I would like the scope to be a lot lower.

Leupold rimfire rings work good on the Baikal, but they will slide under recoil. The early Baikals had no recoil lug on the scope mounting area, I believe the newer ones do, but try and figure out what rings they designed it around.
Knowing what I know now I would have drilled in a recoil lug on the front ring, just a hole for a dowel like those supplied with the Burris Signature zee rings, any little bit will help against the recoil of 12 gauge slugs and a 30-06 rifle barrel
