Well understanding that all things are not created equal just wondering if anyone has some decent input on who's barrel to go with?

Looking at a DD at wolverine, but Dlask has one for $100.00 cheaper, then there is always NEA as well..........

Any input would be great, thanks.

I would go with a 1:8 twist and a Wylde chamber.
I don't see much use for a 1:7 since feeding from an AR magazine you are pretty much limited to 77gr pills and a 1:8 is enough twist for those out to any practical distance you will be shooting with a 12 inch barrel.

You can also have a nice barrel made for you from a quality stainless blank. Depends what you plan to do with it though, high volume shooting would be better with a chrome lined barrel but for increased accuracy the stainless may be better. You're looking at spending anywhere from $200-$500 (you could spend more if you wanted to though) for a barrel and only you can decide what you really need in order to do what you have in mind for the rifle. Like Phat Eagle said though, buy once cry once. Saving $100 is really not worth it if you're going to be looking to upgrade in a few months because you're not getting the performance you were hoping for.

Good luck and be sure to post pictures when you get it together.

I bought the 12.5" DD barrel from Wolverine. I was plesently surprised at the accuracy at 50yrds shooting cheap Hornady 55gr FMJ. I recently installed a 10.5" NEA barrel on a new upper but I haven't shot it as yet. I'm curious as to how accurate the NEA barrels are.

Thanks for the input so far guys, the DD is still way out front for me. My local guys Tier One in Edmonton just sold the last one that I had been eyeing up for a while............the pains of building a gun on a budget! Wolverine looks to have stock so probably will bite the bullet and "cry once". But that said it's not really crying it's what I was planning on all along!

And I sure will post pics when it starts to come together, right now just lots of parts!

That's a sweet set-up you have there, would you please post-up all it's spec.'s.

Thanks D
Thanks for the kind words.

Love this setup, it is a Vitor lower with magpul moe grip, Geissele SSA trigger, magpul enhanced aluminum trigger guard, vltor imod stock, vltor shell deflector only upper with Geissele mk1 rail 10", CMT/stag m16 F/A BCG, 12.5" noveske crusader stainless barrel, vltor/BCM gunfighter medium latch charging handle, battlecomp 1.0, Knights 300m backup sights, elcan os4 x scope.

My 12.5" bbl NEA shoots great with 55gr Sierra Blitzking and Hornady 55gr SP bulk "practice" ammo. How great? Consistently MOA shooting prone off my pack. Plenty enough power to drop pesky feral goats past 150m with Hornady 55gr SP's. Head shots on rabbits with the Blitzking rounds leaves me with a nice meal.....
