Has anyone here dropped one of the 12.5" D.A. Grizzly barrels from CanAm on to a 870 Express receiver?? If so, how was the fit, did it fit flawlessly or did it require some work to get it to fit? Also can anyone comment on the quality of these barrels?

I'm contemplating getting one of these as a secondary barrel for my Express, just to use shooting slugs mostly, or to make the gun nicer to carry when backpacking/camping and the price at $150 is a lot more appealing than the $300-400 I'd be spending for a Dlask or Remington barrel of the same length.

Sooo, if anyone has done this I'd appreciate hearing how it has worked for you.

Thanks.

I purchased a Grizzly from Canam a couple years ago. The barrel is perfect fit on my Wingmaster receiver and did not require any additional fitting, it actually fits tighter than the 2 Remington barrels I have. Seeing as you have an Express why don't you drop the extra money and get the complete gun, that way you would have a backup receiver if your Express decided to have issues?

Here is the final result after I did a mods to my Grizzly:

I'm just going to bring this up, as I don't actually know myself, but you may want to take a look at this: Non-restricted or Prohib?

And a related thread: Here.

I'm not worried about it becoming restricted(it won't be, even after I put a 2" shorter Hogue LOP stock on as well), I just want to be assured that the barrel will fit and index properly(it SHOULD, as the Grizzly is meant to accept 870 parts, however I'm not willing to go ahead and buy based on an assumption).

I may hold off for the time being as I likely won't be out hiking around with it for another 6 months now anyway as the snow is now piling up in the alpine and I'd probably be better off investing that money in a reloading kit as it'll likely see more use through the winter than the short barrel would.
