I'm just curious about the quality between the two. I'm assuming the Grizz is a Chinese copy. Does the Dlask use a real 870 action from Remington?

How is the cycling of the actions and weight?

Thanks for your help.

the grizzly is in fact chinese and im pretty sure the dlask is based on a real remington action
but then again the dlask costs almost 3 time the price of the grizlly

Edited for clairity:

MY Dlask receiver is 100% Remington, yes, I paid probably 3 times more than for a grizzly. I only own the Remington, so I'll only comment on that:

It cycles perfect every time, I've shot all kinds of ammo through it, bird shot, heavy buck, slugs, Hornady, federal, cheap as it gets Can Tire stuff, its never failed. My only complaint is the side strap sometimes gets in the way of cycling, I've seen guys cut them off, but people always comment its there for a reason, perhaps legal, perhaps not. I didn't buy the Griz because I feel confident shooting magnum shells out of the dlask because it says its made for it on the side. I've owned a lot of stuff that was made in China that wasn't up to the same task of the product it copies, however, none of those products are firearms, just MY belief you get what you pay for most of the time. There are of course exceptions to every rule, I hear the Norc M14's are actually better than the springfields, go figure.

Dlask is indeed 100% remington receiver, yes, it costs more, but its not made in China. I'm not saying the chinese one isn't good, but I wonder if its built with honest labor. Maybe that doesn't matter to you, it does to me.

Are you trying to tell me I paid three hundred bux for this thing and I could have had it for a pound of rice? Common guys. give it a rest.

When I visited the factory all I saw was small children being beaten and forced to assemble shotguns.

Ahh, actually no children, slaves, prisoners or other were used in making them.

Guess I wasn't clear in my original post, I'll edit to reflect that, I wasn't saying it was built with slave labor, I was commenting that there work or material standards perhaps arn't up to what we consider standard in Canada, and you hear a lot about "clone" or copy products that make there way here that burn down houses, ect. But this isn't my political forum, so post edited.

Quality doesn't depend on a nationality... it depends on the QC department of the company that manufactures the item.

With respect to the company that is making the Grizzly, someone knows what they are doing because they make very good products.

I own an older Wingmaster and one of the first Express shotguns that was manufactured by Remington. The chinese "clone" fits somewhere between the Express and Wingmaster with respect to fit and finish. External finish on the Chinese gun exceeds that of the Express. Express has external machining marks on the receiver while the Grizzly does not.

I compare them both side by side. The Grizzly action is not a s smooth as the Dlask. The Dlask felt lighter. Even the trigger pull is smoother on the Dlask. But I would still be happy with the Grizzly since it costs way less and seems to hold its own in the field. The grizzly is a Great buy for what you get. I would pick one up if I did not have the hp9. I might get one in the future ,I like the idea of a choke, and the sights on the shotgun are primo.

Are you aware that the Norinco HP9 and DOMINION ARMS Grizzly are made in the same factory?

Pretty straightforward, best answer is a Dlask barreled 12.5" Remington 870. Just picked up my Rem Choke 12.5" barrel from them, it's nice to support Made in Canada. The made in the USA receiver I'm putting it on makes me feel good too... I like to send my money to the appropriate places, I also know exactly what I'm getting with a new Remington.

That said, I appreciate the great value offered by the Grizzly, but will never own one. I trust my life to my shotgun, and while the Grizz is probably very good, I'll still take Remington for such a task.

I have both, I only use the 12.5" grizzly though as I have a bad habit of putting my thumb past the barrel on the 8.5" Dlask. I would say the quality is something like this Wingmaster=Dlask, Sps=Grizzly

+1

I carry mine (12.5" dlask) at work, where I am daily in close quarters with very large, black & brown furry things. somehow rattlely chinese knockoffs don;t leave me warm and fuzzy. I don't mind spending the extra $ for quality.

I guess lots of us haven't visited any US plants.

I visited Unilever plant in Atlanta. It's one of the biggest company in the world. About 1/2 of the workers are Mexicans making 5$/hour.

I was shocked.

i trust my life to my 12" grizz when in the bush. No reason to think that it will let me down. It is a great firearm. Those remingtons are probably slapped together like a crappy american automobile.

guess you've never spent any time in chinese made transportation lmao

870s nowadays are pretty cheaped out on... I own a grizzly and I gotta say it seems tougher built all around. yes, remington has good QC still, but they are cutting as many corners as possible to keep the gun proffitable at its higher price. I used to own a very nice newer wingmaster, it was a very fine gun but for the most part the rest of the 870s dont seem to be worth their price at all. If I were interested in building a reaaaally nice pump shotty, I'd take a grizzly and fix that up to surpass the remingtons. keep in mind there are at least two small compatibility issues I'm now aware of: the pump handle tube is slightly larger on the grizzly, I could barely fit the Hogue overmolded pump handle onto it. I've also read that some 870 barrels can be a really tight fit, but overall neither should be a critical issue to fit various parts.

Regarding manufacturing: If you want something built WELL and CHEAP, it's gonna be from china: they have manufacturing down to a quality you may not fully comprehend: yes, it's very cheap. YES, it can totally overthrow domestic manufacturing in cost. do not assume because it's cheap, it's poorly done... things can simply be created there in massive quantities, at lower costs, because the whole system makes it possible. quality control can still be just as (almost as) good as it is here, I used to work with a chinese immigrant CNC machinist, they have much much greater stuff over there, and sooo many more people doing it, but they can also pump out quality if its demanded.

That being said, no way can they make a hundred very, very complicated and flawless little aircraft/spacecraft/optic parts as well and as quickly as me, possibly not even as cheap, and change to something else. if you want something built REALLY WELL for a fair price in non mass-productive quantities, Canada is where it's at. forget about USA for anything great or fair priced these days. that's why we're getting all their work now :p

If there were issues with the Grizzlys and the HP9s , I think we would have heard more about them. Bottom line If the unlikely event that a Bear will attack I think the Knock off will go bang. If your afraid of Coalition zombies Then I would worry about mulitple rounds and reliability . Oh yeh the undead will be coming from the east.
