Finally got out today to try slugs in my grizzly. Had some real fun at it too!
I went out to the woods with some challenger slugs, some Sellier and Bellot 1 oz reduced recoil slugs (special slug sport), and also some #6 birdshot loads.

Needed to zero the sight so first fired 2 of the challengers slugs at 25 yards. Not bad, just a few clicks left and good to go.

Now I moved the target back to 50 yards and got ready for the pain. Challengers are 1 and 1/8 ounce at 1610 fps. (the S&B are only 1 oz @ 1345 fps)
I fired 5 slugs here (ignore the 2 25 yard sighters that are still visible on the target)
Of my 5 shots 2 are in the mish mash of cardboard above the black, 2 are beside each other near the top of the black, and there is that one terrible flyer way down there by itself. SO excluding the flyer there is a 4 shot group of 4.75 inches. Not bad for a shortie shotgun fired off shooting sticks with my elbows on my knees and sitting on a bucket.

I must add that the recoil of the challengers was just punishing!! Firing that short light little pump gun all hunkered down on my shooting sticks was truly painful. 7 rounds of that was enough and my shoulder still hurts. The great thing about the bushnell holo sight is that I didn't have to worry about a scope gouging my eye, so I was able to squeeze off the shots without flinching and let the shot surprise me. As long as my eye is not getting gouged out I am not afraid of recoil.
By now i was running out of time so I just fired 2 of the S&B slugs at the same target. They are the 2 nearest the top of the centre green diamond. Looks promising, I will try more of these next time

Spent my last few minutes just blasting rotting tree stumps and logs with the S&B slugs and #6 shot. This was the fun part of the outing!! Next time more of that. The S&B slugs are tame pussycats compared to the challengers, really major difference.
What a fun little gun, really enjoying it with that holographic sight on it. I see a case of slugs in my future!
