Can a CGN member tell me why our government decided to no longer give 12-4, 12-5, 12-6, etc, unless you had them prior to 1995 and continue to own/possess one of these weapons. Is it because they think a handgun with a barrel less than 106mm is more lethal than ones with a longer barrel? Or is it that if one of us owned a full auto that all of a sudden we would cease to be a law abiding citizen? Or is it that anyone that wants one after 1995 must be a mental case. I mean seriously, I have seen some nice handguns that I would love to own/shoot with 4" barrels, but I can't.
This is as dumb as not allowing me and my son to go into the bush and have a fun day shooting cans or targets with my non prohibs.
Who are these a**holes that come up with these rules and who are they fooling that this makes this country safer. The criminals don't give a sh*t about laws anyways.:mad:

-WE will never stop fighting
 
Grandfathering is designed to eventually remove guns the lieberals find objectionable, from our society without the government having to compensate anyone for the loss of their property. Otherwise known as delayed confiscation.

"...why our government decided..." There's no rhyme or reason for any of the current guns laws. However, like Redleg says, it's to eventually have no private ownership of firearms of any kind in Canada. It started in 1978 when Trudeau's gang stopped issuing any more prohibited licences.

you're right on the goal. however, what the liebs sropped in 1978 were full auto licenses. a bunch of evil looking rifles and converted autos followed and all snubbies were prohibited exept for grandfathered ones in 1995 I believe, but there was a grey area for snubbies from 1995 to 1998 which will be tested in court. About 1 year ago they stopped issuing SAPs which meant that if you had a prohib rifle you coudn't even take it to a restricted range any more.
