Has anyone seen a Glock (12.6) sub-compact for sale in Canada?

I know model 26 and 27's were introduced in 1996 and 12.6 began in December 1998...........just wondering if any "civilian" firearms made it into Canada before they were prohibited.

Thanks,

CLK

Thanks guys.........

Thousands huh.........maybe I'll have to settle for one with a "Canadian barrel" and be happy with my 12.6 model 23, which was a very reasonable price.

I have personally owned about a dozen RESTRICTED G26/G19 and G27/G23 Glock pistols. All of these were originally PROHIBS, which I re-registered as Restricted with the installation of longer than 106 MM barrels.

In Canuckistan, it is a LOT easier to resell a pistol as a restricted instead of a prohib. And, here in Canuckistan, this is a one way street ... you CAN legally turn a PROHIB pistol into a restricted, but as far as I know, you can no longer legally import PROHIB pistols, nor can you legally chop the barrel on a restricted to make a prohib.

This means the pool of legal prohib pistols is shrinking.

As for re-registering the prohibs as restricteds, it ain't rocket science, but it DOES take a while for the bean counters to process the paper work.

AND,
they always [ ALWAYS] keep the shorty barrel.

My first G26, [about seven years ago] was in the RCMP gun locker in Smithers for six months after I'd moved. These days, it seems to take about two weeks to a month for the paperwork to get processed.

PS: How many NEW IN THE BOX RESTRICTED G27s do you want?
BUT,
I sell them for about $1000 each.

I know several satisfied Glock minigun owners who will tell you that, to the right person, they are worth the price.

PPS: If I could have ONLY one Glock,
it would be a G23, with a 9mm and .357 SIG conversion.
the G23 balances the best of all the Glocks for me.

BUT,
the idea of cutting down the butt on a G22 is starting to appeal to me ....
cheaper, easier to find, and itv will take a standard AA .22 LR conversion kit.
maybe that will be my NEXT Glock project.

That Ottawa newspaper gave the stats of 6 compact Glocks registered as prohib to individuals. However, being one of those owners, I have been told through various sources that in fact there are 3 original barrel prohib G26/27 in the "system".

So what is an original compact/prohib length Glock worth? Lots.

Thanks everyone for the information and I agree the G23 is a very nice Glock, I have a Gen 2 (12.6) and a Gen 3 (restricted)......I actually prefer the Gen 2.

I am pretty sure there are more than 6 floating around... I know of one friend specifically (who is also a member here) that has about that many himself... at least 2 G26 and 2 G27, both 12(6).

I would have thought there were more as well. I'd be happy to hear from your friend if he wants to part with any.

G26 with 89mm barrel length. RCMP registered 5 to individuals. 4 in Ont, 1 in Que.

G27 with 88mm barrel length. RCMP registered 5 to individuals. 2 in BC, 1 in AB, 2 in Ont.

Hey koldt

So if a person HAS his or her 12(6) handgun status,
why can't that person convert a restricted to a prohib?
Should they not be able to legally buy an 88mm barrel anyway?

Like I said before,(03-13-2008) if you have a price in mind let me know!

Cheers

A restricted gun CANNOT be converted/made into a prohibited gun. Don't ask why, cause it's Canadian gun law, and doesn't have to make sense. (The government/CFC wants all of the deadlier short barreled guns to eventually go away by the eventual death of all grandfathered prohib owners) The CFC will "allow" a prohib gun be converted into a restricted gun. BUT once converted to a restricted, they will NOT allow it be converted back to a prohib.

A barrel, shorter than 105mm is a prohibited device, in and of, itself.

And then there is the double secret probation, prohib by sneaky way law. Don't even ask me about that. I'd have to track you down.

Not sure where those stats come from, a newspaper? If so, are they making public the stats of all prohib handguns, FN 1910's etc, or are they just making public knowledge how many prohib Glock's are in Canada?
