Winner !!!!!75. A have some 12.6 pistols.
Just happened to look up some stats:
According to the CFP info on the web.......
As of Dec. 2014 there were 185,707 prohibs registered in Canada
As of Jan. 2010 there were 203,987 prohibs registered in Canada
That's quite a drop in 5 years. Almost 10% of the prohibs gone in that short a time.
Owners dying and no one to take them. It's a real tragedy if you ask me. The fall is only going to get bigger and faster.
I know this reply is 2.5 years old, but what are the number today ? My second question is when you said '' As of Dec. 2014 there were 185,707 prohibs registered in Canada'' is that number only the 12.6 or alls 12 class ?

And the thing we need to remember is that those prohibs are not gone. They dont evaporate when the owner dies. They are simply no longer legally registered.
The number of seized and surrendered firearms annually doesnt come close to accounting for them, so many simply go underground. If recovered later they will all be deemed domestically sourced crime guns, even if never used in a violent crime.
If that particular part of the legislation goes through, it will create new classes of Prohibited licenses specifically for the VZ58 and Swiss Arms guns. You would be grandfathered into that class, but it would only allow you to own other prohibs of the same class... So if you have a VZ58 now, you'd only be able to own other VZ58's.Do you folks know, if vz58 owners will get prohib status after bill c-71 and be able to own other prohibs ?
