I have a 12(6) PAL, which I have had forever. I was speaking to someone at the club last week, and he told me that it allowed me to purchase 12(6) firearms. I knew this, however, I was always under the assumption that it was 12(6) firearms already in circulation, not new. There are a lot of nice little firearms out there such as the CZ-P01, however purchasing these firearms with the 'legal' barrel makes it look like a wannabe miniature uzi. Can I purchase a prohibited 12(6) firearm which is new and bring it in from IRG under my 12(6) license? I was always under the impression that prohibited firearms cannot be brought new into the country, but have never read anything formal on this. Does anybody know for sure, and if, how this can be done with the CFC?

Your initial suspicion is correct.
You can only buy and sell in country 12(6) guns that were grandfathered when the damned 12(x) category came into effect in the mid nineties.
No new sub 105mm guns allowed at all.
This is how the gov't gets rid of a class of guns that they don't want us to have without outright confiscating them.

That is what I assumed using common sense and knowing government politics :(! Thanks for the confirmation!

Sure would like to get my hands on a new Glock 19. But I understand how that 1/4 " shorter barrel can wreak havoc in this country!

An early, good condition, true 4" Glock 19 (prohib) recently sold at an auction for $425. They're out there, if you have 12(6) status.

My SIG 229 has a 226 barrel on it (I think that's what it is). It actually doesn't look out of place. and that's how it was imported

I have held (12)6 from the beginning.

As a retired old pharte, I wait eagerly for more spending money when my my Old Age pension kicks in to augment my cheesy little CZ45 .25 auto.

Right now I have a limited budget for guns, so I have to pick and choose.

Yes, waiting eagerly to receive money from the Liberal Government to buy prohibited handguns that they don't want me to own.

Sweet Irony.
