What exactly is a 12.7 classification?

If you own a 12(6) handgun made before 1946 you can leave it to an immediate family member, or vice-versa.

12.7 are prohibited handguns, manufactured prior to 1947, tranfered to a close living relative by the owner. The new owner gets only those guns owned by that relative and is not able to aquire any more from any other source.
