12 g priming

Im looking for a 12g priming set up, does anyone have any leads?
I have used the Lee hand tools in the past and still do occasionally, but for the most part I do it with a press.
What exactly are you loading that you need a hand priming set up Jim?
You can make one in the New York minute🙂

Be careful to ID what you have I think they are diferent tools - Lee used to make a Lee Loader for 12 gauge - I never owned or used one although I used several for centre fire rifle cartridges (308 Win, 243 Win, 22-250, etc.). Lee also made the Lee Loadall -now a version"II" - that is a full press with hoppers and bushings - I have one in 20 gauge, but it is very "Mickey Mouse", compared to what is also available - but claimed to function fine for a casual user or speciality load only user. I could not find any reference to a Lee Loader II - although they could have been made and I just could not find reference to them.

Lee Loader tool - as I recall - for centre-fire - came with a scoop for powder - you had to use a soft faced hammer and set tool on floor or good solid table to use - pounded case in to neck size only - and pound case out. Came with a chart that showed what powder to use with that scoop for what weight of bullet. Most of that is reproduced in book "Modern Reloading Second Edition" by Richard Lee.

My neighbour froze the bolt on his very first shot with his handload - was a Remington 788 rifle in 22-250 - a "friend" of his suggested a "better" powder than listed on the chart, so he dumped a scoopful of that "better" powder. Being underground miners - used 2x4 chunk and knocked bolt handle off the bolt trying to open the gun - now we had a spare bolt handle and the bolt (with no handle) was still frozen shut - ended up to take that unit into the city to have a "gun smith" fix it - that likely cost him more than the rifle had, at the time.

For shotgun loading - I have only done circa 200 loads in 28 gauge - so mostly what I read about it - often the reloading machine comes with bushings - they have a number - certain bushing for powder and certain bushing for shot - give 'er - nothing weighed unless you are fussy - is all mostly done by volume - not weight - although everything listed as grains of powder and ounces (or factions of ounces) of shot - when reloading never weigh any of it - all done by the bushings - by volume. My MEC Jr machine had a "universal" adjustable bar on it - did not use bushings -so I used my balance beam scale to initially set powder and shot openings - not sure that was really needed to do - could probably have used the marking on the bar.

Just looking at the centre-fire rifle Lee Loaders - as if the de-priming rod is turned to use the case neck to line up to de-prime - I have often used the 22-250 de-primer rod with other cases - some much larger than .22 size - but centerfire cases had that flash hole - can feel the nub of the de-capping rod go in and know the hammer smack will knock out that primer, rather than take a divot out of inside of case head. Maybe can turn similar for shotgun - de-priming and re-priming as above - likely you will want to or can use the case walls to align for "punch"- or maybe not necessary. Many time now I will use the Lee Loader tool to de-prime, then tumble the brass cases, then re-prime using an RCBS bench tool. All can be done with LEE stuff - but over the years I got some gizmo's that I think are "easier" or "better" in some way.

12g OMG use got a LEE 7/8 slug 000 and 00 mold. Shotgun is a lacking part of my knowledge, I have a LEE LOADER II but no way to load primers

Are you talking about the Lee Load-All II ??

Because if yes, ... the Load-All II can deprime and prime a hull .....

And the "Lee Loader" also came with everything to deprime and prime a hull ... except for maybe a mallet.

And you are not talking about "reconditioning" or reloading primers .... right?

I reload a lot of shotgun shells, I've got a load all 2 and a mec 600. It's not justified by first savings unless you shoot a lot

Some guys like to repurpose birdshot shells by opening the crimp and putting the same payload of something else inside - ie: buckshot, slug.

Thet no longer make the primer add on.

I 3D printed a setup that was very quick, if your interested say so and I'll send you the STL's.

But ya there are options
yes please

To save a little time, I've purchased both hulls and wads through BUDGET SHOOTER SUPPLY matched for straight wall hulls, Powder is PERFECT PATTERN,. lead could be 7.5 shot, #00, #000, or LEE 7/8 key drive slug. I have the LEE LOAD ALL II, but they now longer make the priming tool. Hence this thread. Thank all for the help!

OP - You need to check if you've got all the bits for the Load-All. Priming occurs at the second station, there are bits that fit in the base cup (steel pin, spring and plastic collar). As well, there is a sizing ring... Often these parts get lost. You should be able to get the bits from Higginsons or Rusty Wood. Plan B would be to get a second Load All and share the priming bits- they go for cheaps used at the various auctions.
