12 g reloading

hi im just getting into reloading. just got the lee load all2, some waa12 i beleive wads,federal 209 primers and herco gun powder.
also some lead and lee mold for slugs.
i also have some steel bbs from bb gun. the bushing for powder says 163 and shoot 1.25. does that sound right for a steel shot load?.dont want any accidents

Don't use BB gun BBs they are harder than steel shot, you need special wads for steel shot, the wads you have are for target lead shot loads. Get a proper manual for shotshell reloading and follow the loads given. Do not varie from what is given as pressure can change very quickly.
 
X2 on what Iceman2 said.

Reloading steel is highly advanced and requires special wads and powder.
Instead, buy a bag of lead shot and simply follow one of the many on-line powder manufacturers reloading recipies. Get yourself a decent scale too and check what the powder bushing is actually throwing.

Please ask plenty of questions on here, and remember that even the most experienced reloaders are always learning.

ok good to know thanks.i bought a reloading book just alittle confussing really need a scale i guess to be positive. gonna just load slugs gotta melt it still. do u guys have experience with slugs. will my supplys do ?
 
ya not gonna bother with reg. shot just slugs. only gonna be fired from mosseberg500 if that matters with no choke
 
so finally made some slugs. so im using federal cases 2 3/4,1 0nze slugs, 180 bushing on my load all2.which measures just under 3.1 cc. of herco powder. waa12 wads i believe
does that look about right following the lyman book specs. ive made 2 so far havent shot them yet.thanks

Check the powder bushing with a scale first.
I know the mold leaflet has a charge of 36gr of herco (4cc hmmmm....) so with 3.5cc you should be fine but why not make sure.

Another thing is to add cardboard or felt discs to raise the slug enough to get a good crimp. That's a trial and error.

Below, in the two left shells the slug is too low. The 2 right ones are good and perfect. :D
