12 g slugs - where can buy cheap?

In another post Can-Am said he is bringing in 25 rnd boxes of slugs and i guess buckshot too.Not sure what brand or when they will arrive but i have my money saved for when then do arrive.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:
 
Lyman has a very good reloading book and a section just for slugs
with data for almost every slug / hull and wad and powder that can be used

just swaping componets should not be done it can be dangerous !!!!

That's a super idea about the wheel weights. They are a common item so likely cheaper than getting raw stock from a specialty store.
Try an automotive supplier and ask what the cheapest weight is. Likely more bang for the buck with the larger ones.

Downtown toronto has no shortage of lead pipes. Contractors are ripping them all out during renos by the truckload and scrapping em. Look for ongoing work there too.

All metals are at an alltime high right now and still climbing.
We had a guy on my site a few weeks ago try to steal copper from a live pannel. (Fried like chicken)

I think it's over to reloading section now to read up a bit. This has struck my curiosity into casting.:)
 
CBC make a very cheap slug, its a square ounce and is a forster type slug. I normally buy about 500 at a time every year or so. I also cast and load my own. I am better at casting than loading and I also sell a lot of the Lyman cast shocker slugs through a dealer here in the UK. He is 200 miles away so if I am visiting old friends I drop a few hundred off for him. Usually I make £5 a pack of 20 and they seem to sell really well. The dealer is ok as I usually spend it all before I leave his shop. I think the CBC slugs were £90 per 250 case here about two years ago! (Brazilian)

Slugs can really be finicky, I had great results with Winchester 1 oz. 2 3/4 standard foster and Brenneke Rotweill. But Federal classic slugs were absolutely the worst accuracy out of one of my Ithaca 20 bores...

But the next shooter/hunter, could have opposite results too.
