12 Ga. reloading

Hi guy's
I have zero experience reloading shot shells. I would like to reload some Black powder 12 Ga. for cowboy shooting.
I am thinking a single stage press of some kind. It would have to load 2.5" shells for the old doubles and the Win.87 .
It wold have to resize to factory specs. for quick loading and extraction . I would be playing around with different loads ( experimenting ).
I would likely be using a roll crimp some , so would have to adaptable to that. So I am looking for recommendations for a machine that would fill the bill?
And did I mention , simple is good. Thanks.

Any shot shell machine will do. Cost you a bunch less than metallic reloading too. Look in Lyman's BP Handbook and Reloading Guide for data.

I have altered an old Lee Loadall to reload 2 1/2 inch shells with pie crimp by shortening the final crimp station tube.
Pick up fired 3 inch plastic hulls and cut them to 2 1/2 inch with a box cutter and a slip fit pipe size gauge over the shell. We throw away once used BP hulls since hulls are readily available for free.

If you are going to roll crimp your BP shells you don't need a reloading press except for resizing the case head. You can use a standard ML brass powder measure for measuring both powder and shot. I do find the standard Lee Loadall tool handy for seating wads in loading BP shotshells.

Hand roll crimpers show up all the time in gun shows and should be available for $20 or so. I prefer my hand roll crimping tool over the modern drill press roll crimper that I also have.
