Hey guys,
So after years of metallic reloading I'm looking into building my own 12ga 00 buckshots and slugs, both 2-3/4" shells. I started researching and so there is a bunch of combinations of hulls & wads & primers I'm trying to sort through and pick the best available combination so I don't have to get a bunch of different hulls, wads and so on. I would prefer to stick to plastic hulls of common availability. What hull brand and model can anyone recommend that is easily obtainable and wads ? I'm looking for information for 12ga-2-3/4" 00 buckshot, which is 9 pellets & 1-1/8 oz load and slugs seem like 1oz most common. I looked up a couple of gun shops in Vancouver and quickly ran out of luck for hulls and wads. Where do you guys get your supplies ? What are the pitfalls and dangers to watch out for when building 12ga shells?
I have already looked up Hodgdon/IMR/Winch website so I think I have an idea about the loads. When you develop the load, do you also take the powder mfg data and reduce by 10% to start with or just follow the table ?
Thanks for any info
