I'm looking for either a SxS, O/U or pump to take onto the trail.

I'm looking for some advice on a quality used model that would be a realiable and inexpensive addition to my collection.

Looking in the $150 range, and will likely refinish the wood on purchase.

Old 870. Almost any old already-beat-up pump, for that matter.

My suggestion is a used Remington 870 or a used Mossberg 500 , all in 12 gauge. On the used market they are reasonably priced and new parts are available if they need to be tuned up. Also synthetic stocks are available if you want something a little more weather resistant. Both are proven to be good guns with long service records. Lots of accessories for both if your into that, but most stuff added just makes the gun heavier ,which is okay for playing on the range but it is extra weight you have to pack on the trail. The only real accessory needed for the trail is a sling.

An original 870 never fails... you will have to hit a deal though at $150...lotsa add ons for them as well...if there is two at that price i'll buy the other!!!

My vote goes to the maverick too, I wouldn't mind one myself Two cool things about Maverick 88's:
1) they use mossberg accu-choke choke tubes
2) you can buy rifled slug barrels for 'em

I would imagine so, just google it and I'm sure something will come up Hell, if ATI can make pistol grips and CAR buttstocks for NEF Handi Rifles, I'm sure there's a few accessories for Maverick 88's kickin' around out there

Maverick 88's take the same accessories as Mossberg 500/590 series shotguns. IIRC
