12 gauge brass in a pump?

Hi folks,

Are handloaded brass 12 gauge shotshells safe in a pump action shotgun or should they only be used in a side side, o/u, single shot?

Oh, and black powder only or smokeless powder okay too?

I load the brass shells, what I could see as a problem is how you seal the shot in, I use a card with a good dab of caulking and they appear fine in my double, I left one in one barrel and fired several out the other barrel and the recoil didn't dislodge the wad , I use # 46 on a mec charge bar andbetween 1oz. or 7/8 oz shot, yes they are only about 3/4 full case .
can you cyle the brass though the gun , because you will notice the brass casses have a much sharper? end than the plastic.
