While no one ever wants a crack, a good stocker should be able to repair using epoxy so it's never a problem again.

You have a nice gun. Be sure to give it to repair people who are competent enough to do the right thing.

Hey everyone still trying to get the full info on this firearm.
I tried the browning website. That got me the year but not sub model.
The serial # is 14218PN643 I know the P=8 and the N=9 for year but the 643 confuses me.

"14218" is the serial number for that year.
"PN" is the year of manufacture = 1989.
"6" is the grade = Grade 6.
"43" is the design = Trap

THANKS A MILLION hoytcanon!
How does the grading work exactly?
I'm actually enjoying the history of this gun haha!
Wish I had looked into this earlier :)

How does the grading work exactly?

The manufacturer determines the grading ... the higher the grade, the nicer the wood and the engraving become. High grade wood has a tenancy to crack easier than less expensive grades. Proper fitting of the wood to the metal is paramount to ensure the stock doesn't crack.

So you list this gun in the EE and you say it is "not in perfect condition", but you don't mention the fact that the forearm is cracked?

No kidding eh...Good eye Hoyt! This is exactly why I like to look at peoples previous posts before I commit to buying a gun. I lost count of how many guns I've seen advertised on CGN that I was interested in buying, that the user had made a previous post asking for help because there was an issue with that same gun. And all to often, those issues they asked for help on is not even mentioned in the ad. Here is another classic example! Buyers must be diligent to inform themselves because not all sellers are forthcoming with accurate info.
