12 gauge tube survival kit?

20ga and 12 ga work for me. I use 2 kits like this when i go grouse hunting. One has matches and the other band-aids.

It doesn't matter, I use a 20ga and a 12ga because it's common. It doesn't matter what the fit is like because you tape it together. If you have 16ga, go for it. Just use whatever you have lying around.

Well OK then, I guess if you don't care about a tight fit - 12/16 just maximizes the space that you have inside is all (as well as giving you a tighter fit _ almost watertight, but no guarantees...)

Well it was not the "12 gauge tube survival kit" I started this thread about, but I just got my JIC™ 500® Mariner® kit from SIR today. Basically it is just a 500 Mariner in a fancy tube plus a multi tool. There is plenty of room in the tube for ammo or other items. A nice "grab and run" addition to any safe.
