12 inch heavy barrel for 10/22

I emailed the CFC asking this same question as I want to cut down my 18' barrel to 15" and they said there would be no change in classifiacation. TC

Really? The CFC had no problem with you creating a prohibited firearm? You might want to get a second opinion.

According to part three of the Criminal Code:

“prohibited firearm” means

(a) a handgun that
(i) has a barrel equal to or less than 105 mm in length, or

(ii) is designed or adapted to discharge a 25 or 32 calibre cartridge,

but does not include any such handgun that is prescribed, where the handgun is for use in international sporting competitions governed by the rules of the International Shooting Union,

(b) a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
(i) is less than 660 mm (~26") in length, or

(ii) is 660 mm (~26") or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm (~18") in length,
(c) an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger, or
(d) any firearm that is prescribed to be a prohibited firearm;

got the barrel on last night, was a pretty tight fit. sanded the stock down using the sparkplug socket with sandpaper method but i still need to take a little more off, i'm thinkin i'm gunna have to bust out the dremel tool. the new barrel looks AWSOME. i'm gunna call the cfc to get them to change my certificate to say under 470mm and i should be good to go.

still workin on the pics

and thanks goes out to dlask for making these puppies, as well as fabsports for getting it to me in less than a week.
