123 Lapua seating

so is anyone loading the 123 Lapua 6.5mm bullet.. I am loading it in a 260 AI and am wondering how far off the lands seems to be working.. This barrel is the shortest throated one I have ever worked with..

I have used the 123lapua in my .264winmag, seated 10-15 off the lands it puts out 1/2" groups if I do my part. I know of two .260AI rifles both are using 139 lapua in 1-8 twist Gaillards for better downrange windage.
 
I have seen these bullets out-perform all others with a variety of lengths as measuerd length-from-rifling. Try into rifling and then backing off .005" increments to see what works best in your rifle.

They are usually length tolerant.

Thanks Peter.. Ussually I am limited in length due to magazine concerns.. this Savage has a long mag and the Shillen has a short throat so I thought I would ask..

Lapua designs their bullets to work within CIP specifications. Of course a 260AI is not CIP or SAAMI, but, as mentioned, this bullet is length tolerant and has proven to be exceptionally accurate. It can be driven fast enough to nearly offset the ballistic advantage of the 6.5 GB458 139 gr. Scenar.

That is the plan Peter.. I have the 139s I bought from you but I picked these 123s up at the Alberta Long Range Challenge. I figured i would use the 139s in my 6.5X300 Win Mag and run these 123s in the 260AI. With the short throat it turns out it will be a good idea I think..

I will let you know how things go..

Sorry to carry off topic a bit but,

HOLY CRAP!! I was shooting 155 Lapua Scenars out of my last 300wm barrel. It was an absolute blast, not only was it accurate but those babies were screamin out of that barrel. It was like pointing a laser. The unfortunate part was I killed the pipe at 1332 rounds. Your 6.5/300 must be insane!! :rockOn:
 
I shoot mine in a 6.5-47Lapua, I seat them at the lands, and they shoot outstanding groups, I have not seated them farther back because in the 6.5-47L the OAL is still well under mag length

I have never been able to get the 130gn Bergers to perform even half as well as the 123gn lapua's

In my 6.5-270WSM the 139gn Lapua's are outstanding, the ballistics must be similar to the 6.5-300WSM
