$1250 & $1500 No.4 Lee Enfields...Hanna AB gunshow

I attented the Hanna Alberta gunshow today, since my interest is in Milsurp rifles i usually keep a eye open for the Lee Enfield rifle, one table had 2 No.4 rifles, one being a No.4 Mk 1, it had a sticker price of $1500, the other was a No.4 MK 1*, it was marked $1250, i was to put it mildly gobsmacked, both rifle i would rate as in good plus condition,..several tables over there were 2 No.4 rifles, $450 & $500,..they appeared to be in good plus condition also,..it sure pays to look and scout around a bit at these shows

ya never know....a retarded buyer might pay what the retarded seller is asking....its called free enterprise :)
 
I see a No4mk1-T on consignment for $12,000 at P&S. Not sure if that is the going rate....I thought they were $4-$5k

I wasn't talking to the 2 vendors at the table where the 2 rifles were displayed, but i did pick up some conversation they had with others,..they seemed very sure of themselves, basically dripping with arrogance,..best to just stay away, these types give gunshows a bad name

I was at a show oh probably 5-7 years ago and a guy paid $800 for a beat to crap Garand. He was over the moon. I thought he was an idiot. Looking at Garand prices today, its not too bad. of a deal in retrospect. He seemed to have just paid too much, too early.

Agreed, and gun shows do have a bad name about them, for these reasons we have to as a community put pressure on these shysters and ostracize them wherever they rear their ugly heads.
 
Some of the "mystery" rifles are a tad overpriced, to put it mildly. However, a No.4 Mk 1 1941 Longbranch in decent original condition will bring a hefty price. Rifles like that usually don't get to gun shows. My gunner partner and I buy and sell at shows, and are appalled at the pure BS that gets spread around regarding milsurps, not only by dealers, but also by"expert" attendees.
 
I get a kick out of those vendors who flog the same stuff each time because it doesn't sell. Or guys who give the same lines over and over - déja vu. Or talking about prohibited guns like the holy grail. You know, cheap .32s that sold for $49 in the day.
 
The one at P&S is a Canadian sniper. All matching with Canadian accessories

The P&S Long Branch sniper ad says "Scope box is a reproduction," For $12,000 I would want all the accessories included to be original and numbered to the rifle. Nothing in the ad says anything about matching serial numbers.

I don't understand why you would think it's your business how much someone sells something for if you can't afford to buy it. Move along, simple.You guys will whine until there is no one around to support the sport and then you'll whine about that. We need a 5 dollar fine for whining.

Laugh2 Good one! To be fair, sometimes the price indicates a rather rare milsurp, and sometimes it indicates a severely misinformed seller. I came upon a sad old sporterized Mosin Nagant advertised as an "Australian". I looked it over carefully to see if there was some indication it had maybe been in Austrian service. I don't recall what I found, but I did point the error out to the seller and we have become fast friends. He usually asks me to give him the lowdown on any milsurps he gets to sell.

I noted those points too, which is why I did not make any statement as to if it was matching or had original accessories. Your quote makes it look like I had. That said, I generally find the 90L series of Canadian snipers to be matching more often than not. However there are a few little things that I don't like about the P&S sniper, so if someone is ready to take the expensive plunge into Canadian 4T ownership, they may want to have a better look at it to make an informed decision.

A few months ago there was a decent LB sniper at collectors source. Matching, but no accessories, it sold quickly at $10K. I have heard of all matching Cdn 90L examples with their matching accessories hitting up to $15K. I have also heard of similar rifles selling for $6K by people who maybe didn't keep up with the market.
 
Lots of bargains at the Hanna show. You just had to open your eyes on the walk around. Perhaps not Lee Enfields, though quite a few Enfields and some parts changed hands.
I managed not to buy a firearm, though tempted, but did buy quite a few boxes of shotgun shells, and some small bits.
Regarding high prices....."his stuff, his price - my stuff, my price". It has always been that way. I ask, you offer - and if we agree we have a deal.
If you don't like the price, walk on.
 
I picked up varget and reloader 19 cheaper than if seen for a year and a hand made leather shoulder holster for my hk45c will be made for me by a fellow albertan, it was better than most big city shows ive been to, no one bought a steyr 308 norma mag with a manlicher scope in twist off mounts mint unfired asking price 2100$ seller offered to me for less as I was helping pack. There were deals there unlike lots of gunshow.
