Have any of you guys taken game with the 127gr LRX at Creedmoorish speeds? If so, what were your impressions of it?

just under 3000 with RL16, T3 Superlight, dumped a big bodied WT buck in its tracks at 309 past fall ... its a very decent round

I've only taken one moose with it. Great performance. Frontal ~80M shot. The LRX penetrated to the pelvis.

I've seen it used on other game as well. The results have been excellent.

WOW. That is a lot of moose to shoot through. And a brisket shot anchored it well?

Seems they really perform. Snagged a few boxes, looking forward to giving them a shot.

The bull died where he'd been standing. No follow up required. I have killed a fair bit with the 6.5 now- elk & deer mainly- but only that moose with the 127.

It's a great bullet, IME. It penetrates deep, and is quite destructive.

Cool! Thanks for filling me in on the experiences.

I've only ever killed deer with a 6.5mm. It's been just as decisive on the bigger critters?

I can’t see any difference in terminal performance from my old faithful 3o-o6. So far. I’ve still taken way more critters with the Springfield. ;)

Hahaha right on, thanks! I'm reassured to hear they do that well on the bigger beasts too.

What load are you using in the CM?

Thinking I'll try 748. Its slow, according to Hodgdon's manual, 2750 fps or so, but I'm not looking to shoot anything that far either.

I've been using H4350 with the LRX. It gave best accuracy, but isn't particularly fast either. Part of that may be the Tikka barrel, as they're known to be slower.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Been reading what you just said, owners saying the Tikka runs about 50-100fps behind comparable barrel lengths in other rifles, but it doesn't seem to be holding anyone back at all!

Thanks, will do. Looking forward to putting some loads together over March break. Again, appreciate the firsthand accounts.

I have 4 Tikkas T3's ALL RUN there FPS right where they should BE ! Velocity recorded with a Lab Radar ! a 223 Rem a 6.5x55 a 7-08 Rem and a 338 Fed ! RJ

Hey Jim,

Oh no kidding? Cool to hear!

In reading at long range shooting forums and other places, it seems to be common that they are slow barreled. Happy to hear yours are on the mark, and with a dang good chrony too.

And with the LRX bullet as OP asked about OR ? RJ
I’m not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking? You mean LRX in both?

I’ve taken up to bull moose with the 127LRX in the 6.5CM. But the majority of my 6.5 killing has been with the 147ELD. It’s worked well on deer and bull elk.

Have not used a LRX in the 3o-o6. Mostly the 150TSX and 168TSX. And a variety of cup & core bullets early on. I’d like to try a .308 cal LRX, but have a rather large stockpile of the 168, so that experiment may never happen. :)

127gr LRX anchored this moose, 2850 fps MV. Shot was around 150 yards
