$129.95 Norinco 780 Homeland Security 12ga 14" Barrel

Check the extractor to make sure it's not hanging up anywhere. Mine was touching on one side. I've cycled quite a few loaded shells through it and it has no problem tossing them across the room now

What kind of proof testing did these things receive? I wouldn't wager my vision and fingers against $129 is all.

Can Am asked the same question to his Dominion Arms factory rep, and he was told that all Norinco and Dominion arms firearms are proof tested to european standards. The Euro's have pretty strict standards, and the Chinese want to sell them world wide, so not having a whole continent available would be counterintuitive.

Course proofing, only means it won't blow up, it doesn't do anything to tell about durability. I'm not going to say these are quality, just that they'll hold together safely until they stop working.

What ammo is everyone using? Maybe my problem was the cheapo winchester.
I hope not, 'cause that's all I've got to test right now, although that might be a really easy fix... :)

Has anyone managed to get the recoil pad off?
I figured it was going to be screwed on, but I haven't managed to find any screws.... And now, after a thorough cleaning, the butt stock of one of these has come loose....

Also, it's a pain to paint something that you have to keep locked up...

The screws on my recoil pad are well concealed. If you look at the thing from the back, you'll note two dark spots. The screws are beneath these. #2 Phillips seems to work well.

Degreased mine, then cycled it a couple hundred times to find where she's rubbing. Then I spent an hour or so with very fine sandpaper smoothing the wear areas. She's quite a bit smoother now.

I have heard and read, that a lot of people with these 870 types, and the Remington 870,s themselfs, give a Lot of grief with Winchester shells, locking up and jamming. It would be nice to think it was a " cure " for these guys ??? !! --------I have no idea, and the one I ordered in the mail, next week some time !!! I can only Hope !!!! ----------

---- Good for you, Dan, and Good Luck !!! ------ There,s gota be a way to tune these things !!! ----- isn,t There ?? !!

---- It could be a lot of it Aero_Plane, ------ I have heard a lot of negative stiff regarding Winchester shells, and 870,s --- Federal has small ripps on the plastic , that is supposted to help, with this problem, sure won,t hurt to try them, ---- Here,s Hoping !! and Good Luck !!

I bought a box of AA low recoil/low noise from WSS today, thinking this is probably the best quality hull and the fairest test of the shotgun rather than the ammo. Will do a function test on Sunday and advise.

The more I look at Remington schematics and the inside of this beauty, the more I am led to believe it's a 90% finished 870 with some differences in stock attachment and barrel dimensions. Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison to determine how the stock attachment is different?

I took the plunge and ordered one of these shotguns the other day. I've got an older 1970's vintage 870 Wingmaster (plain hardwood stock, 2.75" only) to compare it to, along with my nicely built HP-9, that I didn't feel like using as a beater shotgun.

I suppose if I take her out that I'll bring the box of Winchester Double AAs that I have for grouse hunting along with the cheaper Winchester shells, which never gave me problems in my 870 or a host of other shotguns.

Regards,

Frank

Could someone be kind enough to remove the trigger assembly and post pics (or send me a PM) of the trigger assembly, right side view, and top view? I think something's wrong in that department on mine (the "carrier" is loose and not doing its job when cycling). I removed it from the gun, but since that's my first pump shotgun trigger assembly I'm studying in detail, I'm at a loss.

Thanks for any help!

******EDIT!!!!!!!****

Never mind! I found the culprit. For some reason the carrier dog spring-loaded plunger was jammed. Interesting task to unjam it. I wonder what the cause is. The trigger assembly main body is soft aluminum, and the plunger is steel, and, well, the machining is less than precise, so maybe there's part of the reason! More later,

Lou

i want to buy a side saddle, its a tacstar 6 sheel holder for 870. i just want someone to give me a firm comfirmation that it will fit, please and thank you , maybe giving me the space between the screw holes would help me out

Just an FYI, for kicks I pulled off my ATI top folding stock(the one that includes the pistol grip) off of my mossy 500 rolling thunder and using the supplied remington 870 adapter for the ati top folding stock it actually fits on the 780 although there is about a half inch gap between the back of the trigger and the pistol grip. Now I'm not saying a stock for a remy 870 will fit, because I think a few people have said they don't, but if you don't mind a little bit of a gap between the trigger and the pistol grip then the ATI will do the trick
Cheers guys!

Dark alley Dan: I'll try to snap a few pictures once I put it back together, I'm still having ejection problems so she's in pieces right now, so I'm going to resort to using your jb weld method(thanks for that, wouldn't have thought of it myself)

Cheers

hey just blasted off almost almost 100 rounds between the two of them, with friends. The extractor is a small issue. We would load them up and then cycle at targets from 50 to 120 yards(ballons). Walmart and other kinds of good quality brass ammo(both jammed!!!). Sometimes you could cycle all fiive and other times you had one stick in after discharge. After unloading it, acouple pumps of the shotty would pull it out. Can i just buy a new extractor or mod it?
These shot guns put out a HUGH MUZZLE FLASH:).....cool
