Chemist,

Are parts interchangeable with the rem 870?

*EDIT

I found my answer. Don't worry about it. If someone could do a review that would be great.

Hey, bud. Thanks for the excellent offer!

You mention in the listing that "problems develop down the line". Can you be more specific? If I get one of these, it'll be a bear gun. Some problems are fixable, but others result in my zipper being found in a pile of bear scat...

Thanks,

Dan

Please dont use this as a bear gun or you'll most likely have your zipper found in its scat.

Not to knock chemists sales or anything but he is disclosing that they are issues so im going to go ahead an point a few out. My friend accidentally bought one of these (from a different seller) thinking it was an HP9. These are not HP9's, they parts are not interchangeable (including the barrel) with an 870. They are very rough around the edges (literally they have sharp edges). Also they are unreliable for feeding and jam a lot. Your mileage may vary but this is my experience.

Again, I don't want to knock what Chemist is doing which is providing a cheap product at a cheap price. An I applaud him for disclosing that they are not the best guns. All saying is what I have seen through personal experience.

+1 for truth. The one I had was also sold as an HP9, and was super sharp and poorly finished. I wouldn't bet my life on these, but as a cheap little blaster, I'd say it's worth it. I was skeptical at first, but I also applaud him for bringing more guns to the market. The more we have in the hands of lawful citizens, the better!

not knocking Ryan, hes an excellent guy to deal with and he will always have my business, it looks like an interesting shotgun, but the whole "issues" thing turns me off for the purpose i had in mind for a shotgun of the likes. now if i just wanted one to play with i would surely buy one, cant beat that price. But i certainly would depend on it to fend off a bear or anything life threatening.

Thanks to all for the input. Much appreciated.

So she's a little shotgun with issues. But are the issues solveable? I like to tinker, and removal of sharp edges isn't a hard thing to do, but if the feed issues stem from design flaws rather than fit and finish, it becomes an unsolvable problem.

Is it $129.95 worth of trouble and heartbreak, or is it a "handyman's special" that will respond to a little love? Is she a schizophrenic girlfriend who won't take her meds, or angry mature girlfriend who, with counselling, could be a lot of fun?

much like women you have to pay in someway to find out their problems and go from there

It might be fun to try to 'de-horn' it and remove all the rough spots. There are no 'design flaws', as it's based on the 870, but it still might be temperamental with feeding/ejecting.

The blued finish is brutal (IMHO), but a beadblast and gunkote might work well. The sharpest parts on mine were the loading port, the front of the receiver, the action bars, and actually, the muzzle!

So she's basically an 870, but not "parts compatible" with the 870? How is it different? Are essential components of the feed system interchangable?

Ugly isn't an issue for me (a trip through the beadblaster, two coats of BBQ paint, and Bob's yer uncle) but reliability is crucial... If she can't be made reliable, I'll save up for something else.

I'll even go more basic....if it sits in a closet in the bedroom for two years...after maybe shooting 25 shells it whole life, and i pull it out...will it go BOOM!!!??? cause thats all this little gal would be for. So yes or no?

Please can anyone elaborate on the "problems" it may develop down the road. I just want a cheap shottie to put over my shoulder when I go fishing in the deep woods by myself (like I usually do) as I have had 4 run-ins with bears. I won't be using it for bird hunting, or skeet / target shooting. JUST occasional shots if a bear is nearby again.
I have other 12 guage guns for my hunting.

Awwww Hell, nevermind, I just ordered one anyways. If I get 5 shots a year for 5 or 6 years, It'll be worth it. I just need a short shottie and this means I don't have to take the hacksaw to one of my babies.
