12g. pattern vs. 20g. pattern?

I like the way you think but unfortunately I need to sell the 20 Citori to fund the SxS. I can replace a Citori easier than tracking down a lightweight 26" barrelled SxS with English stock.

I agree about the Citori, not so difficult to replace and you may not really miss it so much. Bernadelli made some really nice sidelocks and their boxlocks also were fine shotguns. I agree you would do well to complete that deal and never be stuck as result. Now we're all interested we await photos, ASAP!

Cat, Them's ringnecks!!! How is that possible? If local in your region I'm already planning a visit, OK? ;>D

If you were to compare the pattern of a 12 vs. 20 both shooting the same choke and 1 oz. loads what would you think the results would be like. I have come across a sweet Bernadelli 12 sxs that is easily as light as a 20 guage. Thought I had to have a 20 SxS but this Bernadelli is really tempting but I would have to sell my 20g Citori to finance the buy. So, with both shooting 1 oz loads wouldn't the 12 actually pattern better?

I think they would both pale in comparison with the pattern a 16ga would throw. Especially with 1 oz loads. Sorry if I hijacked your thread :).

See now you're messing with my mind
But I have to ask how could a 16 throw a better pattern if both loads are 1 oz. ? I can see possibly a better pattern than the 20g. but can't see why it would outperform a 12? For a while there I was seriously considering a 16g. Bobwhite but after handling a 20g. ringneck have realized that CZ probably under estimates the weight of the doubles by almost a pound. There is no way a ringneck weighs 6.2lbs as the website claims.

A 12 is for distance. A 16 is for everything in between.

I used my Remington M887 12 gauge for clay bird shooting and hunting, but when I tried a CZ Redhead 20gauge over/under. I felt no handicap difference at all. Even during trap, just put the tightest chokes in and I scored 23/25. That shotgun was so nice, that I want to get a CZ Redhead 20gauge sometime soon. I just paid for a CZ 550 Lux so I’m out of luck for a while.
