Hi guys,
I found something fun to mess around with . . . 12 gauge glowsticks !
Non incendiary, non toxic and they fit great into cheap 2-3/4 target loads.
They are based on the Fiocchi Canned Heat Ammo available in the US. Here is a video of the canned heat in action:
Due to the "chemical tracer label we cannot get the shells in Canada, although I was about to source a couple thousand of the glo inserts !
Here is my step by step and crappy video of them in action.
Disclaimer: Don't be dumb and hurt yourself or others. Don't do anything illegal
Step one :
Pop open the crimp and remove the shot
Step two : Insert the Glowstick into the shot cup
Step three: Fold the crimp up tight and then cut off excess that can snag while cycling
Step four: Go shoot ! Preferably in the dark !
A couple things I have learned is that the sticks don't work well in 3 inch shells, they are pretty slow out of the barrel. If I had a reloading press for shotgun I think a better system could be developed but presently I have a lot of fun with just the cheapy target loads.
