Just ordered a new 12ga with 3 1/2" chamber. Hoping to get back into waterfowl hunting in a big way as I'm retiring soon. Many years ago I hunted waterfowl a lot. That was in the days of lead shot and I used a winchester Model 12 with a fixed full choke with #6 for ducks and #4 for geese with great success.

Since steel shot has entered the scene I have had a couple different shotguns with interchangeable chokes, but have not been able to get them to pattern well and it shows in my kill percentage as well. I know my age and lack of consistent shooting affects that as well.

I have used a cheap Maverick 3" 12ga and it patterned the best of them, but has a habit of jamming occasionally, I had a Winchester SX2 that was just ok to poor with everything I tried and I have a older Remington Express that is not bad. As I've gotten older simplicity seems to be more what floats my boat, so I just ordered a Browning Cynergy with synthetic Camo with the Dura-Touch coating. It comes with Full, Modified & IC chokes. I ordered 2 extra Improved Modified and an extra Modified to start with and I'll get a bunch of different types and sizes of shot shells to try, but just wondering what works for you guys?

Well, I am a simple man. Kicks HF extended chokes with Kent Fasteel #2 or BB.
