12ga Short Shell or Aguila Minishells in Pump shotgun

I have a Mossberg 590 Shockwave...I bought an OpSol adapter 2.0 for it and it cycles both the Federal Shorty (size 8 shot) and the Aguila #7 (or 7.5) shot, #4/#1 buck and slugs reliably. Without the Opsol adapters, there are feed problems. With the adapter, not a single problem, though due it it being kind of a rubber compound, I would think over time, I would need to replace it once the rubber feed ramp starts wearing out. The adapters are $25 each and so not too expensive...

There was some South African compact pump action that fed short shotshells thru the pistol grip magazine well. Kind of influenced by the Uzi. I don't know if it could feed this one or a special shell even shorter yet again.

Mag-7.

I inquired with wolverine when the shells first came in but it's apparently restricted with the civ barrel

Ithaca M-37 2 3/4 receiver with the extended magazine. 11 in capacity. Feeds and ejects just fine. I know for a fact these shorter shells with jam in any Ithaca 3 inch magnum receiver. I presently do not own a 12 gauge Ithaca 2 3/4 receiver shotgun with a normal capacity hunting length magazine.

Didn’t you have a Stakeout?

Both my Stakeout shotguns (20 & 12) are the later variants. The M87 series. Henceforth three inch magnum from the factory. I vaguely recall this second run of Stakeout introduced firstly in 1988ish.

Ahh, makes sense. I have an M87 barrel on a 2 3/4” receiver. I should try some of these mini shells in it.

I bought a conversion kit to load mini-shells on my MEC. Finding load data is nearly impossible so far though.

BPI has data for 2, 2-1/4, and 2-1/2 12 gauge loads (3/4 and 7/8 shot oz)...that's about all I've seen. Haven't seen any short slug data.

I've loaded 2-1/2 for an older Euro shotgun, but haven't tried anything shorter.

Looking at them some years back I decided that using them will always risk a misfeed, plus there is little or no $$$ savings according to size. But elsewhere here I was just posting about the trauma of firing a full size shell in an enclosed space, I suppose they would mitigate that.

Mossberg sells a adapter to be able to use these in there shotguns, not sure of part num.

Not familiar with a Mossberg-made adapter specifically, but they may be selling the Opsol one which is the defacto adapter that is recommended to be used in Mossbergs to make Federal Shorty shells and Aguila short shells work in them.

Tell me more about this conversion kit.

I forgot about this thread, sorry about the delay. I bought a kit (same as one in post #29) to convert my MEC press from Bilozir along with a shell cutter and other stuff to convert the 1000 or so primed Federal Topshot hulls I have that are damaged and need to be cut one way or the other. I have yet to touch my conversion kit or that project in any way since receiving everything. I have a bad habit of putting wayyyyy too much on my plate.

i make them myself don't have to reload just open the top remove the wad and shots, the wad is way to long i just cut the wad just to leave the cup for the shots, I made a template to cut the hull even, I reinsert the hull and the shot, I got off amazon a roll crimp die that you used on a drill and a few hull plastic card to seal the end, they works fine in semi i do not remove any powder i just want more capacity, make sure you get shells with 3 dram of powder challenger make some for cheap, I hope this help.

Since I already have the kit I'm likely to just use it. Shotguns are exponentially stronger than most guys seem to think but I still don't want to load blindly with makeshift tools.
