12GA slug reloading... where to buy components?

Hello all,

I am new to shotgun reloading, but I am keen on reloading either slugs/sabots for the 12GA. My criteria: inexpensive and clean.

Could someone point me to a Canadian outlet for these components? I tried searching and gave up (I am not interested in casting.)

I want to find a one stop shop for all the components to make clean shooting slugs/sabots for relatively low price.

*I've been shooting retail Winchester 15pk-Slugs and although priced "ok" they are extremely dirty (the leading is terrible) so I hope that by going the reloading route (or sabots) I can solve that issue*

My brother reloads slugs, but all I can say is its sort of mix and match. Sometimes stores have a hard time getting powder in so its a shop around. Primers you can find anywhere, usually without a problem wherever they sell powder. And If you aren't casting I have no idea for projectiles as me and my brother cast ours. And since we live where reloading supplies are a rare sight, we have to order our wads.
Somewhat a hassle for us to reload, but >20 cents compared to +1 dollar a slug is a feeling you can't beat!

get a shotshell reloading manual know what hulls your going to use because they are not all the same.

pick a load and use it you have to use the primer,powder,wad(factory or replacemnt),hull.

you can use 1oz shot data or heavier (you may need 20ga card wads under the slug to bring the slug to the top of the wad ) or you sould use lee slug data(if your using a lee slug).

Ballistic Products in the US is the largest shotshell reloading retailer for one stop shopping but wont ship to Canada. They do have a Canadian distributor but I don't remember the name and don't have the contact info handy. If you contact them they will give you the information though.

If you are looking for cheap slugs without casting you will pretty much have to find someone who will cast for you. Factory component slugs are designed for those interested in maximum accuracy without regard for price. Often a component slug will cost nearly as much as a factory loaded slug shotshell if not more.

As for clean and no leading that isn't too hard. I run cast slugs in wads designed for shot and the entire slug fits in the shotcup. There is no slug-barrel contact as the slug rides the plastic shotcup the whole way through. I've fired them in chokes from cylinder to full with no leading or other issues.

most of the BP slugs need a rifled barrel they will ship to canada(almost all shotshell componets are free trade no export BS)

but yeah your not going to find cheap unless you cast your self

As other have said, cast your own, i started few weeks ago with 1oz lee slugs. I purchased the press (lee) wads, mold from Budget shooter supply. The hulls (2000+) from EE, other parts from local store. I used to pay $25 including tax for 25 slugs, its now costs just under $10 for 25.

I am sure Henry from Budget can get everything you want, it might take a little while though.

You can make then even cheaper, if you can get ww or pure lead, i have been using shot which is not cheap but still works out cheaper than buying factory slugs.

with my free pure lead(i also use range scrap from time to time) im only at $6 a box thtas about 25 cents each (i think thats 25 a box idk the calculator does not say be its for shots loads so i can guess its 25 a box)

There is no export limitations on shotshell components but BP refuses to ship anything but tools to Canada. I have contacted them twice about this from different email accounts hoping for a different answer and both times they told me they will only ship tools internationally. They specifically said no wads, no hulls (primed or not), and no projectiles.
