Can someone tell me the differences between the 12 and 16 gauge Remingtons other then the obvious?
I'm looking for a HD shotgun for my wife and an wondering if the difference is worth getting her the 16ga or should I be looking at a 20ga?
Is 00 buck readily available for the 16 or for that matter the 20ga?

Thanks

Hi. 16 guage ammo, of any kind, isn't exactly easy to come by. It's out there, but not every shop carries it. 20 guage would be easier.
"...looking for a HD shotgun..." Frowned upon by the 'powers that be'. It'd still have to be kept locked up. She'll have to have a PAL, training and practice regularly too. In any case, which shotgun should be her choice, not your's. Take her shopping for a 20 ga pump.

Yeah go with the 20 gauge. Price is almost the same as the 12 gauge, and as plentiful. Also a good selection of different shot and slugs same as 12 gauge.

Thanks everyone
As for what my wife needs as far as PAL and so forth, I don't care if she has one or not. When someone uninvited enters my home she has my permission to do what ever she needs to defend herself and her family.

...my wife dislikes the recoil of our SKSs :)eek:) , but really enjoys shooting her 12ga pump...

Maybe have her try one out before writing off the twelve gauge?

Yes I plan to do that very soon, I was also thinking of possibly getting a Knoxx recoil reducing stock and having a go with that along with recoil reducing loads.

Is the SKS that bad, I've just picked up 1200 rounds and plan to get out there with it real soon.
