12gauge to 20 gauge adapters

as the wad would only used the few inches the adapter is in length it would probably make pretty bad patterns and fowl barrels.

Winchested, I was under the same opinion, until I saw a fellow at the trap range use 28 ga adapters in his 12 gauge.... He was always above 20 out 25 birds, which is about his average when using full bore loads... As to the barrel fouling, I can't comment on that.

Several years ago, my dad worked for Delta Waterfowl. One of the students there at the time was doing a study on skunks in relation to duck hatching. All he had was a 12 gauge sxs for shooting skunks but indicated all he needed was a .410. My dad went to the lathe and made him .410 adapters. I don't imagine the fellow shot a ton with them, but he was tickled pink and reported they worked just great.

I have used 20G inserts in a 12G O/U when shooting Grouse and was very impressed and surprised at the ranges at which I could get a clean kill. If I am using an O/U, then I always take the inserts and a pocket full of 20G shells.

adapters

there used to be a gentleman at one of the gun clubs I shot at that had 20ga. and 28 ga. adapters for his Citori. Sitting there watching him goof around between shots was enough to make you sick. I'd say they are fine if you're on your own just playing around but please don't take them out if your going to shoot with a squad of people. The adapters would come out, the hulls would stick in them...........just buy another gun.

Yes I know there are sub gauge tubes made that are quite longer than and precision made.

I think the OP is talking about the 3 or 4 inch adapter that you can buy on gun addicts and trade ex, I think they are only worth like $25 or something like that.

And little Skeeter's made by Browning.................people that have older 10 ga 2 7/8" chambers drop in a 12ga 2 3/4" insert................Harold

I have a few sets that had the browning name on them and were called little skitters I think. There were sold for $60 for two. The 12-20 have a really good group that I have shot chickens out to 40y range with them. I also have 12-410 but have not really tried them out fully yet. They are a good buy.

I've used the lil' Skeeters, worked ok, but they pop out with the ejectors. I also had some of these Chambermates that have an extractor that pops out with the the ejector. I think they are around $139 for a set of 2. These are stainless, lil'skeeters are aluminum.

There is an o-ring that holds and seals it to chamber.

As a skeet shooter I had a cracked 20 ga full length briley tube and all I could get to replace it was 20 ga chamber mate , so I shot the event and shot my first 100 straight in 20 gauge , nobody could tell which barrel had the short tube I think not bad but only use at 21 yards
