13 inch MSW IWI X95 Tavor now Prohibited

The RCMP did this with the CZ 858 back in 2014. Their position was some later models of the CZ858 were manufactured by modifying full auto versions that had been with military and were returned. Although the European Union Proof houses had approved these as semi auto for domestic use the RCMP lab kept the idea they were converted full auto. This lead to the Harper Government issuing amnesties and then C-42 was passed allowing the Gov Gen to designate a gun from prohib or restricted to Non Restricted and that was dome by a gazetted regulation I was in the tick of this from the beginning to end. The Swiss Arms Rifles wee also caught up in the controversy.

Since then the ability to designate a gun to be non restricted was removed from 117.15 by the Liberal Government. Then the OIC came about.

So is this just the 13” restricted ones, or all X-95’s? Or is it only the restricted because they knew where to send the letter?

I did not purchase from NS. I purchased it from G4C Sports. They are my local retailer and would like to hear their response. They can put pressure on the importer themselves.

Why not just call or email them? I agree, the retailers should put pressure on the importers. We're going to need to put A LOT of pressure on them!

I have emailed them. I want a written response and waiting for a reply. I purchased three of these rifles from all different retailers. Only one response from another site sponsor, 'We understand the situation, and have received official word from the main Canadian importers that they are currently working with the RCMP on clarifying the issues'. We'll see with time what happens.

it will be harder to send a letter to anonymous owners of the non restricted version ...

My point exactly. Nobody in either thread seems to be able to clarify that for me. The other thread went right blaming the importer, section74 hearings, compensation, etc. etc.

IwI Tavor X95 MSW now considered prohibited by RCMP

Sad news for any MSW owners. The RCMP changed the status of these and has said that they never should have been sold in Canada and are all now prohibited. Something about the importer claiming they got it properly classified by the RCMP as restricted but they never actually looked at them in detail and they now say something about the selector makes it possible to modify to full auto again so it's not allowed. May be messing up the details, but something to that effect. Owners are being sent notices that they now possess a prohibited firearm and have 30 days to turn it in, have it destroyed or deactivated.
Anyone have more info on this, it's pretty ####ty situation, what can be done?

Short answer, only the X95 MSW 13" restricted rifles are affected.

Long answer, an email was sent out to owners. A copy of the email is posted on that thread, and details what is going on so you guys should have a read. Its not a long letter. It does not affect regular Non-Restricted X95 models.

This is the Tavor X95 MSW specifically. They came in about a year ago, they are Israel special forces surplus with an 8" or 13" barrel so they were a restricted version of the X95. The standard non restricted X95s are not a part of this
