13 inch MSW IWI X95 Tavor now Prohibited

Thanks guys, not that the law makes any sense, but if the platform can be made FA by virtue of dropping a different trigger pack into it, and FA is verboden, then the revocation kinda does make sense.

Conversely, if they were FA, and rendered FA inoperable, only capable of SA and the feds are coming down on it because of what it once was...well that's pants on head retarded.

The Canadian Goverment....

I think Runkle has covered similar on his channel. I think the crux of the issue is these rifles were converted from select fire to SA and regardless of how, they remain prohib.

He said he's releasing a video on it soon. Today even.

The trigger pack it ships with is FA capable.

I agree, I don't know who it was, I heard maybe North Sylva? But it sounds like they didn't do their proper due diligence. They should be on the hook to compensate these buyers. Would like to know the full process how they got the initial approval for restricted status when they brought them in

Agreed. It’s the importer that should be on the hook for this.

I just spoke to the RCMP at the extension number they provided on the notice of revocation.
There are no options to sell the gun to anyone (even businesses/organizations).
So the only 2 options are to give it to the CFO (at a financial loss, no compensation) or go to a gunsmith to decommission/deactivate the gun to become a house prop.

Apparently, people are banding together for a class action lawsuit against the importers to get their money back. But regardless of the distant outcome of recouping the money from them, you still have to do one of the 2 above options.

You forgot the third option. File an appeal with the provincial court of justice.

And how would this work exactly? do you have any historical cases to provide with an optimistic outcome? has this been done before?
I'm not financially capable of trying to change any set legislature regarding what is considered semi-auto or not.

Yes. And the moment your appeal is filed your revocation is cancelled until your hearing. Success? Probably not. Sets precedent and you learn. Plus it's free and you self represent. The instructions to do so were included with the revocation letter from the RCMP.

I think the problem here is that someone at the lab received a sample of this version of the Tavor and was able to drop a full-auto trigger pack in the receiver.
Full-auto parts are not illegal in Canada so by the RCMP's own internal guidelines it makes this particular receiver a machine gun even though it may have never had a full-auto pack installed originally or ever. The Israeli units that had these surplus guns fired them in the semi/safe configuration and the markings on the polymer lower had the same markings.

You can't drop a full-auto trigger pack in the civi version of the Tavor.

This has been an issue with other drop-in trigger pack firearms as well. Not agreeing with it, just what the powers that be operate under.

The problem with the MSW is that they are a full auto firearm with a little set screw to stop you from turning the selector to the third position.

I don’t think he knows what he is talking about. If there was a screw stopping it from going to Full-Auto then there would still be the marking on the receiver for Full-Auto. These firearms were never Full-Auto, do they have the capability to be converted to Full-Auto? I believe that is where the RCMP have found the issues.

You know what's interesting is that in the email sent simply claim it is a full auto rifle. They don't say convertible to full auto. Also they say that it's a military surplus rifle which is not correct either. Maybe someone at the RCMP rushed to the conclusion. We may have a case if they haven't been able to convert them.

My point exactly. Nobody in either thread seems to be able to clarify that for me. The other thread went right blaming the importer, section74 hearings, compensation, etc. etc.

well s74 is the only way as of today to at least give you some time.compensation i doubt but even for oic a compensation will come.. blaming the importer is a little early for sure ...

Just spoke with the RCMP at the extension provided. You guys won't believe what they told me. The reason why it's prohibited is because it was misnamed when imported. AND the investigation is still ongoing and not even completed!!!! This confirms my gut feeling the RCMP jumped the gun, they haven't even proven yet that they can be converted. Which is why they don't mention that's a convertible auto, simply that it is fully automatic. Which is false.

Really because in the other thread you blamed this whole thing on random owners who wanted to turn their guns NR . Rcmp wasnt the only ones jumping the gun lol
