I noticed that the canadian version of the Ruger SR9 has a 10 round magazine as opposed to the 13 round magazine that comes standard in the U.S. [except california] Are the 13 round mags available in Canada?

You can get 13 rounders pinned to hold 10, but no centre fire pistol can hold more than 10... Well, except original schneckentrummel drums for a Luger, but whatever...

You've been on here for 5 years and don't know that 13 round mags are prohibited?

...and we complain that the media doesn't know anything about our laws.

I have 6 X 96 Beretta ( 40S&W ) mags, that i use in both my CX-4 carbines, they hold 13+ 1 legally and are full reliable... JP.

Not sure how to take your reply.
Did you just realize you are breaking the law and advertising it on the internet? ;)

I agree that it sounds iffy, but I seem to recall that this has been discussed before on CGN and it may be a legitimate loophole in the regs, although it's probably arcane enough that convincing an LEO might be difficult. (I'd want to havea printed copy of the appropriate legislation with me!) Apparently it doesn't work for all 9mm pistols, either. Now modifying a .40 mag to work with 9mm (by fiddling with the feed lips, I'd imagine) would likely get you into hot water.

Running .40 cal Glock 22 mags full of 9mm in your Glock 17 is completely legal, the magazine capacity is based on the firearm the magazine was designed to be used in and if it happens to work in others with different bullets then so be it. Same as using 50 Beowulf mags full of 223, they only hold 5 rounds of 50B so they are legal.

His reply seems like he has 9mm mags that hold more than 10 and thought they were legal. I'm sure he has pinned them by now though ;)

WHAT?
Think about the children if you use the 9mm magazine to hold more than 10 rounds of 9mm!

I know, the law is stupid.

It makes no sense but we need to work with it and take advantage where we can ;)
Gives us more practice doing mag changes in Canada so we are more competitive. It's for our own good.
Criminals are also too dumb to figure out how to remove a rivet and they know that would be illegal so they would never do it to their magazines for their illegally owned pistols which they plan to commit crimes with.

Yep, The laws are stupid!
We're all criminals waiting for our chance. Luckily the government is there to make things illegal so no one commits a crime.

No i was not talking about the 9mm mag, i have 40 mag (96) that fit my CX-4's carbine and i use those in it, i know that 13 rounds of 9 in a 9 mag is illegal but i thought i was in trouble for using those 96 mag in the 9mm... JP.

Lol, no. That's totally legal.
Your post wasn't very clear and sounded like you were being a bad boy.
Keep up the good work :)

Besides Beretta (and apparently Glock?) are there any other manufacturers whose .40 mags that will reliably hold and feed 9mm? I know my .40 cal Browning Hi Power mags won't (feed lips too wide)
