just picked up some 130 G hornady bullets for the 30-06 , other then haveing to do some load development they should work well .

I like R15 i know the bullets a bit light but anyone got a recipie?

I would also like to pick up a box of 190 G hornady BTSP .308 bullets if i can find some

How good?

I am looking for a 130ish bullet for my wife to shoot from a .308. I was reccomended a Barnes 130 but at $1.50 a bullet, I don't think so. Sierra also reccomended a 125 but not for our larger northern deer.
I have no useful input on a recipe but I will watch this thread with interest.

If it were me, I'd load the 130's to about 2700. The .308 will kick them out at 3000 fps, but at this velocity I think any bullet short of a TSX will be too explosive. Loaded to 2700 the 130 gr Hornady will still shoot very flat, and with a 200 yard zero you can hold dead on out to 250 yards.

Are the 130 grain hornady's the ones intended for single shot pistols? If they are, I would not load them to full 30-06 velocity as they likely will not give adequate penetration.

I dont need a hot load just an accurate med velocity load 2700 to 2900 fps.

They are listed as a traditional rifle hunting bullet so I am assuming that Hornady knew what they were doing when the put these together as a big game bullet . i would hazerd a guess that they were expecting the most common use to be in the 308-30-06 cartridges but who knows ? I sent them an email to confirm.

Depending on powder the 130s seem to fly at 3000 to 3200+ fps so I am guessing the bullets shouldnt have to many construction issues at sub 3000fps (thats my theory anyways:) )

ziggy is that a max load ? I think i might start at - 10% of yours and work up if accuraccy neccecitates it.

I also have some 4064 which lists a start load at 51G at 3070 fps and a max at54.5G at 3243fps for the 130grain bullet so i might give that a try also.
