Looking for some input.. I have a Savage 308 with a 1:10 barrel, looking for a decent starting point for reloading the Hornady 130 grain sp, strictly for target shooting! Shots are all at 100 yards and I am hoping to use either IMR4064 or IMR3031 as I have a couple of pounds on hand.

Anyone had luck with this combo of bullet and powders?

I've made some loads for the the .30-06 with 125 and 130 gr. Barrel twist was the same 1:10. Accuracy was good with 125 gr. Sierra SP loaded to around 3200 ft/s and Barnes TSX 130 gr. loaded to around 2950 ft/s. H4895 is the powder.

I loaded that bullet or the Sierra 125 for my son (age 10) when he started target shooting. The load was mild -38gr 4895, but very accurate. It was only good to about 600 yards.

I suggest you start with 38 gr of 3031 and work up to see what groups the best.

Had a chance to go out to the range today... found a really accurate load of 43 grains of imr3031 behind the hornady 110 grain vmax. Nice light recoil!

130gr Hornady SPFB 41.8gr H335 from Savage 11 .308. 2.690" C'OAL. (As always don't trust my loads, safely work your own)
Chrono's for me @ 3080fps.

Groups sub moa for me and took the top half of heart off my deer this past fall. Bang-flop.
