1301 SST heat shield

Love it! But they need to make one for the OG Italian handguarded 1301's that we get up here. I've seen the ones for the Zhukov hand guard, but I don't think it'll work well with the OG handguard.

Your's looks great. I've also noticed something and offer you this in the hopes it helps. Your QD swivels. I used to run sling swivels like yours, until I nearly dropped a slung rifle when I bumped the front QD somehow. I never thought it possible, but it happened. Since then, I've transitioned to these which are next to impossible to accidentally disconnect from the cup. 1767992966881.png

Make it yourself like I did. Just have to Dremel out reliefs for the barrel clamp tabs.

Where can a person get a SST product in Canada? I tried to checkout on their website but it only had USA as a shipping option, but thought I remember reading in a post awhile ago they shipped to Canada (maybe via eBay or a 3rd party)?

I bought direct from shotgunheatshields.com
You do get nailed with duties though

Thanks, I think that is their sister-website so will check it out.

This thread getting bumped recently reminded me to post an update… I ordered a few of the heatshields to make international shipping and import tax/fees worthwhile, but got lucky and didn’t get charged anything lol.

EDIT: add pic…

I'm very curious to know what's going on at the end of your barrel there. I'm quite new to the 1301 and it's aftermarket products
That is a Toni Systems Compensator/Brake for the 1301 competition machined to fit the 1301T by Tactical Ordnance.

Did you also modify the end of your SST heatshield to reduce the bolted section from 4 to 2 screws? I’m probably going to do something similar and so far it seems like the Zytel heatshield can be worked similar to other polymers/plastics (hacksaw, sandpaper, etc.)

Yes I did, I also moved the heat sheild as far back on the barrel(towards action) as I could. Which required me to "reduce the thickness" of the clamp so it could clear the mag tube ext nut.

On the heat sheild (front) & clamp I added the "heat resistant rubber gasket"(cut to fit & adhered to the sheild & clamp)that can be purchased at Tactical Ordnance for the Nordic components barrel clamp to make up the space so the clamp could be tightened. Otherwise you will have "dead space" with no clamping ability.

There are more gaskets stacked & glued on the upper heat sheild than the clamp to maintain the uniformed spacing of the heat sheild instead of it being lower at the muzzle end.

Thanks for this detailed info! I think for my case I will need to put a gasket toward the C-clamp end by the receiver, as the offset seems a bit less there than at the bolted clamp, and that’ll help keep things spaced evenly. Since the C-clamp doesn’t really have a lower bracket, I’ll probably just use a few beads of high temp RTV silicone on this part of the heat shield to get the desired position and look. Will also cut off the front bracket and dremel to fit the ghost ring on the shorter barrel. I think if I keep the single bracket only it will be almost to the muzzle; both will be past it, which is no good. The bracket should clear the S&J mag extension, so that’s good

Not sure what heat sheild you purchased but I had to trim the "C clamp" on mine as it was for a Mossberg Maverick 88 13.8 inches so the clamps would clear the action rods.

One of mine is for Benelli supernova, but I discussed with SST and it sounds like most heatshield are the same, and the C-clamp might get trimmed a bit depending on the specific model. When I compare them it looks like the SN heatshield C-clamp gets thinner and tapered a bit to clear the forend when it is fully forward
