You can use an orbital grinder and grind down the rim and have nice parts washing tray or something of the sort instead of the nasty edge left by the can opener.

If you're in the GTA I can give you one of my keys. But wouldn't pliers work just as well? You're only pulling/winding up the tab on the side after all.
